On the ladder of healthy living a few rungs exist that are necessary for you to climb in order to actually get you physically fit and healthy. Having a dedication to working out, creating time to work out daily, progressing within your workout and reaching your ideal weight/muscle goal are all rungs you’ve climbed. Eating right is also a rung that if you skip over you’re going to end up falling down the ladder again. Find out how you can eat right when there are so many tempting aisles that want you to go back to eating junk.
The truth is every person has to have food. Just as there are ill effects of eating too much there are ill effects of not eating enough especially if you’ve been working out.
By eating junk foods your progress will be like a sprinter running in circles instead of straight. The extra weight you put on from food will be what is worked off during your next workout.
By not eating enough food you’re bringing two risks straight at you: you’re going to get tired of always feeling hungry so you’re more liable to crave a greasy cheeseburger and onion rings than before and you’re also likely to lose the muscle you’ve been working so hard to build because you don’t have adequate enough nutrients pumping through your body.
Just because you’re on a healthy eating kick doesn’t mean you have to restrict yourself to just salads. Many of the foods you pass at the supermarket and think as unhealthy are actually healthy for you. You have to remember, you still need to have calories to burn so you can actually have energy. That doesn’t mean, however, that you can eat anything you want.
The first aisles you don’t want to visit are those that have candy, cookies, soda, chips, pasta and the sugary cereals. These kinds of foods are the ones that are going to hold you back. Every other aisle is going to have healthy foods for you to choose.
The kinds of food you can eat are fish, turkey, chicken and lean proteins as well as eggs, skim milk and cottage-cheese (remember, go for low-fat). You can even try tofu.
The most common rule you should know about stores is that most of the items that are healthier for you are actually on the outside aisles of the store rather than down center aisles. For the most part you aren’t going to have to be tempted by walking down an aisle.
Eating healthier is easy once you understand that you aren’t restricted to the no-calorie foods like celery and salads. While vegetables will play an important part in your diet so will many of the other foods you enjoy.
